I get asked this question allot... "when do you think peak foliage season will be?". Unfortunately, that is a tough call. Each year depends on how the cool evenings, the rain, Nor' Easters, etc. So if I have families scheduled I will typically suggest some colors as we get within a week of that date. Luckily the colors of clothes always help the landscape have some more "pop" to the images. I was thrilled that this family decided to create some family portraits this year. It is so important to try to do that every 3 or 4 years so the kids will have some visual memories of their parents. It is truly more work for the Mom to go through all those clothing choices, look through stores, find the perfect outfits... then the session is over in half an hour!! Good job MOM's... I know how much work it is!

Minds 'n Motion, little piggy fun

I was approached to photograph an upcoming Masquerade Ball on Oct. 29th... but s the conversation went on I find that I am now much more involved. But gladly! I learned that these little Piggys are hand painted and designed from around the area to be auctioned off to raise money for a brand new Children's Museum to open in Foxboro, MA. Great, what a fabulous cause. So you can follow the Piggys little adventures as they all hang out together, playing and having fun before each one of them finds a new home on Oct. 29th. I just so enjoy being able to capture families while they are on vacation. How wonderful is it that I kayaked by them on the sandbar earlier that day...waved and then worked with them just a few short hours later! Thanks for the beautiful family to photograph.

I am always very excited to see Brit come back to the States from Switzerland...not to mention her parents bring me easy sipping wonderful coffee and dark, sweet chocolate (perk!). Yummmyyy! This year was a breeze, Brit has matured into that preteen stage beautifully and she is comfortable with herself and she had some genuine smiles for me. She is so joyful and has a sense of humor.. we played with some great images to create the "preteen" sassy look just for fun. She did a great job. Thanks to them all!

I love to attend a wedding...which makes my job even more fun since it combines 2 wonderful things. I also love to see some uniqueness to each wedding and luckily I was able to attend and was asked for a little help with the details for this one. It was truly beautiful and Bim & Scott were so fortunate to have such a beautiful day in April when it could have snowed! You never know in New England.

Well, well... how quickly time can escape me! This has been an unusually busy winter to spring transition. It has brought about many changes, hopefully all for the better and I would like to think the road ahead is paved and not bumpy. That would be lovely for a while. lol!

Here's a photo from the annual trip to the Caribbean.... we took a trip to Foxy's in the BVI. Did you know Foxy went to England and was "knighted" by the Queen?? Me either, haha. But I have a photo with him too.

Amazingly, most cool, edgy photos are not really taken in that context. Instead we get a great pose and tweak...and tweak it. I can sit and play with an image for an hour just because I love my photography. It is so much fun for me to play with these images and really enjoy the final versions. Sometimes even I can not decide which ones I just adore!! High school seniors are the most fun... very creative for me, especially of they are open minded. Which ones do you prefer?

I so admire the form of the human body as art. I took these images to showcase my appreciation of the simplicity... my favorite is the black & white of the man where you see the light skimming across muscle. The woman's photos show how you can truly create "sexy" without having to show anything more than a bathing suit would. Be creative, use the light and capture some fabulous images. It is so worth it to work someone creative and gets your vision!

These two were cracking me up..as well as themselves, as you can see, and their mother. I have photographed both their Aunt and Uncle's wedding (as well as their Mom's) and it warms my heart to see them bring in the kids.

How cute are they? Mom asked the youngest to kiss her older sister...as you can see that was not going over so well... but being such good kids they laughed their way through it! I just love the genuine, fun response..it makes for the most amazing captured images to be treasured forever.

I want to thank all my friends and family who attended, to support me and view the work. I like to hear and experience every one's "view" (beauty is in the eye of beholder). Attending 2010 photographers conference

I have no photo to go along with this one but I am just going to blog a little about the Professional Photographers Association annual conference. We are in Nashville ...which by the way folks is actually colder than home in Mass! Shesh...I think I am going to suggest they hold this in the Caribbean next year (that will be fun to read in the comment box). It is being held inside Gaylord hotel..this place is huge, everyone said it was but I like the layout and easy to jump from class modals if need be. I am going to try to find myself some more coffee before the next one starts up. OH...before I go a little factoid... PPA says there about 10,000 registered photographers for this years event. Mind you some of those are from around the world (yes, really).

Custom card designs '09

I wanted to share this custom card design but did not want ruin my clients (& good friends) surprise to all! Now I am posting it, since all the cards have been delivered... this is the inside of the card which is 3/5X5s. So 6 panels and tri-folded into itself..that is why I twisted each end a touch to help everyone imagine what it would look like. I was blessed with being on one of the panels (back cover)..I can only imagine all the questions they got but after alllllllll the years of photographing for the family, I am proud to get a small spot! You know especially since the card was so big....~lol!

As everyone will probably notice..these are summer photos taken at our little lake cottage in NH. This is a great example of how wintry feeling we can make summer portraits look. I found the snowflakes to enhance the pages.. it looks awesome and each one is different (get it?!) to have a special unique feeling for the family. Next year we are going back to a wallet size card...lol! Just kidding but I know the pressure will be on to create something unique again next year! Phew...i have a few months.

I thought I would blog a photo of my own family...obviously taken on the way out the door but atleast we have the memory forever now. This is the "Greenwood" side, those of that were there and still some are missing. I had a great Christmas and saw almost all my family memories, hugs, smiles and love to go around.

I know I have spoke of this in the past and I have now had the chance to blog it for ALL to see. This is the only image from my childhood that I have with my mother. I can see why it was not shown to me since I can clearly see that I looked just like my mother. I even remember that little dress and I had little "Cinderella" gold sparkly shoes to go with it!

This photo's value is....completely priceless. I try to remind parents to get in a few images every few years so there kids don't have just ONE! Your children do not care if your hair need to be done, or your weight was not perfect or clothes matched...they just love you and want to see you when they are older. These images can not be replaced... new Year's resolution...take more photos with your children~they will love you for it.

So I am sitting at my cozy desk... typing away, trying to complete all this stuff and thinking to myself how amazed I am at the men & women who have been working all day long in 26degree weather and accomplished SOOOOO much! How dedicated and focused and how well they all worked together. The cold and wind was tough but no-one complaint and barely any of them stopped to eat or get warm. I am truly in "awe". Great job guys! The photo of the wall going up... I took that at 9:10AM on 12/11, then the last photo of the whole group was at 1:15PM 12/12...YES, you read that correctly!!! Can you believe how much was done~AGAIN what an amazing job!!!! The group photo to the far left is the Downings, with the CapeCod Lumber crew and John (founder of HomesForOurTroops).

The house will completely enclosed by tomorrow and then the Downing family should be able to move in in few more months. if you would like to help this cause or learn more please visit their website~

We had a wonderful, fall day for this family...although a tad chilly! The leaves were no t peaking but luckily the Mom is very helpful and listens to add some color to the clothes bu not too much. It looks perfect! The girls had their time for portraits and I just luv how the younger one adores her sister..better yet, the older sister is so tolerant...even while being "strangled". I am so excited I caught caught her mischievous face...she is looking up at Mom and you just know she's thinking "but I swear it doesn't hurt her, she likes it"!! LOL.

This family is back for a second year. What a beautiful family...we did this session on the 12th...yes, it rained almost ALL day. We managed to catch the full hour of non rain...can you even tell. I bet not, never worry...I always call the "game" if it is not possible. But I do pussssh the envelope to accomplish beautiful memories. i also truly appreciate how difficult, timely and stressful it is for "Mom's" to get the whole session in place. Thank you!!

"Bridge of LOVE" in Italy

This photo really speaks "thousands" of words... I am in Cinque de Terre (Italy) which was breath takingly beautiful..like where would you vacation from if LIVED here!!?? That's another topic. So this "bridge" which is a covered walk way connected the first of the 5 towns to the second. The story goes~that then the villagers were able to date others in the next town. So they met along this pathway and had little love nest spots (lol). Of course, life changes...so now they walk along it. Hence the photo...OK..see all those locks on the fence behind me? This just gets better ~lmao! So now the "in love" couples walk along the pathway and lock their love together and THEN they throw the key over the cliff into the ocean. LOL!!! Ok, I know..I am trying, but please...they are young in love and ...yes, yes..it works. whatever! So..on the inside the wall the tour guide was translating the Italian writing and it was ALL heartbreak messages for the missing other half to find! About how one of the "locked" couples would love them forever, would always be in their hearts. Aaaahhh, too be young! hee,hee! This is my funny post for the month.

Last night I was honored and touched to meet this couple. I am donating my time and photography skills for this project. I personally was amazed to hear all about this organization, how it was founded and what generous large hearted people surround us everyday. Dawna Lee (wife in red) was just so warm and welcoming, it was hard not to hug her when I left and it felt like we had know each other for a lifetime.
The gratitude for sacrifices made by our military can never truly be expressed... but thank you John Gonsalves for creating this organization so that we can help.
This project is taking place in Middleboro and they are hoping to start in September. Please click on the link and and generously donate your time, help find a contractor and monetary donations are always accepted. John explained last evening that houses go up extremely quickly (many hands make light work) and they need non-skilled volunteers also. I intend to participate with labor as well as with my photography.

Hedley was a beloved companion for my Aunt Pat & Uncle Barry.

Hedley's joys in life were food, chasing the ball, riding in the car, food (oops he really loved that one) and Pat&Barry. He was energetic, loving, loyal and fun. He has left an empty space in all our hearts but I am sure that he is chasing his ball all over Heaven.

So my clients asked me if they had a missing member of the family could I add them in the week after. Sure! Amazing what Photoshop can do. Now mind you...we placed the missing man at the same place, in the same scene at the similar time of day. This helps make the transition like ...smooth as glass! Seriously, he looks like he was always standing there. The family was amazed and thrilled.

Photoshop (when handled correctly) can accomplish many tasks. It is always worth asking and planning to ahead a little to create a very realistic, beautiful memory forever.

I had to stop and look at the top again, which made me chuckle out loud and photograph it from different angles. Here is a great reason why I am the photographer.. 2 of the photos I took then the one that I am in is so "funny"!!! lmao...not only did "Mom" almost drop the camera but she focused on those buildings~perfectly! Her son's face is like "what is she doing?". Mind you people... he came to sit with me, was not my idea. Luckily, I love him and his Mom (very good friend of mine) so I am allowed to poke some fun at her! LOL! How adorable is HE!? This is the only child I have visited in the hospital... I prefer to give new parents (especially first timers) some time to adjust. Here he is at 18 months.

I really enjoy the creative side of my job. When I really get to just use colors, compliment the images and have fun! I created this one and it is being purchased as a wall wrap canvas, by her father. It is awesome to really see the images all come together and a piece of "art" for the wall ...she only 16 once! I have to post this little adorable face...3 months old! She was (is) doing a great job of holding herself up and her head up to see what her Mom and I were giggling at. I picked this little hat up at the convention in January also. I think that flower is as big as her face.

This little cutie pie (and she's a girl) was brought in for a few portraits once the hospital released her to me....I mean to MOM!! LOL!! I could not wait to capture some images of her and her Dad (those are the hands)... imagine if you had a portrait like that of your you and your father. I am always trying to encourage clients (family, friends, strangers!) to capture those very young years. You can't get them back and in the future they gain value .....they come priceless. I only have one small photo of myself and my mother when I was 4 years old ...it means everything to me. Someday I will try to remember to scan it in and let my "fans" see it too!

This was just an odd scene on Rte. 495...cruising down the highway....really is that legal? It did sway an awful lot. My husband was sweet enough to slow down...have traffic pass us on both sides to grab a photo.... I wonder what you would really use this bus for?? It is pretty funny.

Hello to aaaalllll! yes, it is that time of year again, my husband and I are relaxing for a week in the Caribbean~which always seems to go by so darn quick. Life just keeps evolving...changing. I am glad technology is always improving and "upgrading" (computers, cameras, networking) BUT, man it is hard to keep UP!!! I have been on Facebook for almost a year since I was contacted by someone who lived in the same town as I, in Quebec. Turns out my elementary school had a group formed. WOW!!! I found out I had seen a classmate (grade 1 & up) on TV and did not know it!!

Ohhhh MY! How adorable is this little hat, scarf and tutu!!? I just love the colors and decided to let them shine through by do a clean white background. This was the baby who was chosen for the "modeling" of this set.... her Mom was very excited. BUT, as you can clearly see from one of the photos she was not so excited about it! I had no idea I was so scary and mean! ha,ha!!

In the end, we have some beautiful photos and the hat set looks adorable. It is available for use and ready to make your child look just as adorable...but maybe (hopefully) no tears.

H.S. Seniors ...that get creative

This photo was taken last October. We had a beautiful day...as you can clearly see! The colors are so vibrant. Here is a little lesson... colors are vibrant because it was a cloudy day. The "subject" does not squint and the tonal values of the image stay close together. Thus, it creates very rich and vibrant colors.

The little "embellishments" on the photos are something new that I picked up at the National convention... my RIGHT (creative) brain was working overtime!! It was so awesome and overwhelming...I have many ideas.

Today I got the chance to create portraits for a 3 week old baby girl, so sweet, so loved, so fortunate... and SO adorable! She has a wonderful, loving family that are all close by. Mom & Dad told me she loves to eat...2 small bottles in 45 minutes and we had trouble getting to stop looking at us, she kept sneaking peaks ....fighting the little nap we were hoping for. LOL!! That made me laugh, what can you do. 3 weeks old and we can only follow where she led us... i managed to get one of her sleeping in her car seat. Check out those teeny, tiny toes-how CUTE!!!!

Hi to ALL, it was so nice and warm...this was me leaving Karen & Jim's house on our way to dinner. We went to this very authentic "cowboy" place in the desert with horse stalls out back. They had a fire pit in the middle of the restaurant and we all had fun. More photos to follow.

Exploring is fun

Today reached a high of 78, while at home it was 9 degrees during the dinner hour. I am pretty suprised that it is so cold yet so warm here. The jet stream deeps low right beside where I am at. Doris drove me me up into the mountains in Arizona and we explored a canyon... that was fun. Got some great shots... heard about a "teddy bear" cactus that can shoot out it's needle at you if you get too close. oooookkkay. Then we headed to a mission, it is currently being restored and actually has been photographed by a very famous photographer. That was cool to see the work and the photos.

Then I had a chance to breathe in....relax, breath out-sit in the sun on Karen's patio with an amazing view of the mountains. We chatted and then went to dinner...we drove...and drove, down some dirt roads and into a very local, cowboy restaurant (that was a great margarita made of patron) that had this thin (paper grilled) pizza and all the meats and burgers were cooked over fresh mesquite pit that in the center in the room. The restroom was on the outside of the bathroom and here were rows of horse stalls. I visited the horses.

Tomorrow we are going to park next to the Mexican border...walk across, shop and photograph and head back to Green Valley, AZ. Then i guess we are going to a local "country band" and have dinner. OK...i am exhausted, heading to bed. This vacation and conference have been busy.

Well...today I am off to see my elementary friend's Dad. I have not seen him for about 25 or so years. That should be a great adventure. I will be sure to post some of those photos after I get back home. Have to run since the car is coming to pick me up so that I can get a rental car. Yes, it is going to be 72 today and I am watching how ridiculously freezing it is in the north. yikes!!!

Hi ALL!
Sorry no photos with this blog. I am currently in Phoenix, AZ enjoying the warm and sun. Ya, I know that makes you want to click off this blog, ha,ha. BUT seriously, I am researching all kinds of new ideas and products to bring back to my wonderful clients. I found some cute whimsical hats for babies, some fun new products and got some ideas for next years holiday cards. Phew, that is allot of pressure-LOL!!

I also learned today that we are the first group (PPA) to be using the brand new Phoenix convention center. It is very modern, bright and eco-friendly. I also had to stand in line to get tickets to see Anne Geddes...yes, the Anne Geddes. So I am off to continue to work....well, time for a little schmoozing now.

Happy New Year to ALL!!!! To kick off the New Year I decided to put a photo of me wearing some adorable, whimsical mitts (& the scarf) up. I found these mitts (thanks to Kay) at a shop in North Conway, NH. They are hand made by a lady in Maine who donates part of the proceeds to different places. For example the local library (local to her in Maine). I always like when I find items that help local charities at "home".

These mitts are wool on the outside, cute old buttons and fleece lined. I have 4 people stop me ask about them. I contacted the lady who creates them and she uses all kinds of items. If anyone has wool, flannel, or blended sweaters that have stains, rips or are too small now (kids out grown them)!! She only uses portions of them-please let me know or drop off at my studio on the steps. She uses flannel on the inside and any and all buttons that you may have laying around. You know when you purchase new items, they give you extra buttons...well, I have probably 100 of those and I am going to give them to her. Most of the clothes they below to are looooonnng gone.

All the parents who come in think their kids are the only ones who cry and that they will never get a photo...so not true. This why I can never answer how long it will take to get a photo session completed. They have good days and ...not so good days. It is all good.

This is just so everyone can have a good chuckle, I am sorry that it is taking longer to jump on line and post but it is my busy season. Almost at the holiday deadlines and then i can blog a little more often.

Amazing how time just slips by... we can not stop it. I know parents would love to but I guess as a parent you have to look into the next phase. I have know this high school senior for many years and she is very intelligent, confident and well rounded adult. Her parents have done a great job, she is ready and able to head to her next phase of life. You go girl!

So we all graduate from high school...but truly what will you look back on. Your memory becomes very fuzzy even though you think it will not. I truly enjoy my career the most when a young adult reaches (insists?) for something that truly reflects themselves to look back on. My creative juices flow, I love the challenge, to listen to what they are craving and reaching for. The potential of these young adults is only limited by themselves. I believe in encouragement, a failed venture is only a bump, a lesson learned. Keep reaching and growing. I can still recall the few little positive moments that happened in my teens years....you may not think your few words make an impression but they may be remembered for a lifetime. I personaly know they can.

I take the time to try to chat with my clients before hand to figure out what type of portrait would be good for that year's visit. This Mom brought brown tops and pumpkins. We talked and I suggested maybe a couple or few pumpkins to add a little "pop". When she arrived at her location and opened the back of the truck I was shocked to see the size of the pumpkins! WOW!! It made me laugh. She is always pulled together and organized, looks great and I am thinking how are we getting those huge pumpkins over to where I want them. She got right on that and she was moving those around and as you can SEE the result is wonderful.

This image is also great for my clients to be able to realize how great brown looks in the fall. You would think it would be too bland but not with some fall colors making it pop all around. I also fully realize how much work allot of my clients put into prepping for these appointments. Finding the right clothes, ironing them, hanging them in the vehicle, toting around pumpkins, mums, wagons, bathing the kids (I am sure some arguments about clothes), getting everyone there, fixing hair and being on time!

Yes......priceless!! Great work to you all!

This little cutie is one of those adults you will meet at a cocktail party who will say...."yes, I was born here but I lived in Switzerland for 5 years as a child then came back to Boston and that is where i learned to speak German". ha,ha!!! She is very fortunate to have such a great experience and yes, she seems to be speaking German. Amazing what (and how quickly) children can learn things.

I am thrilled that each year when her parents arrive back in the States they have an appointment set for her to have images added to her album. Poor Mom tries to rush around and find a few outfits to complete this task...I am sure while still jet lagged. Always worth the results though.
